The 1957-58 men's basketball team is second team to join the Philadelphia University Athletics Hall of Fame.

The team has the distinction of being the first team in school history to qualify for the NCAA Tournament, after posting a 17-7 overall record and winning its fourth straight Delaware Valley Conference title under the direction of Philadelphia University Hall of Fame head coach and director of athletics Walter "Bucky" Harris.

In the NCAA Tournament, the Weavers were defeated by Wagner in the opening round of the regional, 94-77. In the regional third place game, Philadelphia suffered a 77-73 loss to Buffalo.

Senior Charles "Chick" Barnes, a member of the inaugural class of the Philadelphia University Athletics Hall of Fame, earned All-American recognition as he led the Weavers with 25.4 points per game. Freshman Bob Simons averaged 18.4 points for the team.
