Box Score PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University women's is headed to the semifinal round of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship Tournament after sweeping Nyack, 3-0, in a quarterfinal round match Tuesday night in the Gallagher Center.
The Rams—the second seed in the southern division—improve to 21-8 overall after winning the match with set scores of 25-11, 26-24, and 25-22. Nyack, the third seed from the north, ends the season at 13-14.
Philadelphia will take on the northern division champion Dominican (N.Y.) in the semifinal round on Friday, Nov. 9 at 5:30 p.m. at Georgian Court University. The Chargers defeated the Rams, 3-2, on Sept. 29 in the Gallagher Center.
Junior outside hitter Brittany Olson (Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore) recorded six kills during the Rams' second-set win and finished with a team-high 10. Olson also had 13 digs to complete her ninth double-double of the year. Freshman outside hitter Allison Manley (Saint Charles, Ill./Saint Charles E.) and senior outside hitter Danielle Carney (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Thousand Oaks) each had nine kills, both recorded five in the first set in which the team hit .467 (17 kills-three errors-30 attacks).
Junior setter Heather Martin (Leola, Pa./Conestoga Valley) contributed 21 assists, while freshman setter Nina Morvin (Willow Grove, Pa./Saint Basil's) tallied 14 assists.
Libero Morgan McCarthy (Beaver, Pa./South Side) posted a match-high 20 digs.
Nyack's Moana Masaniai had 13 kills and 13 digs. Brianna Kane recorded a match-high 26 assists. Michelle Makela was the defensive leader with 17 digs.
