Carney Named Baseball Head Coach

PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University has selected Jarad Carney as the new head coach of the baseball program, Assistant Vice President for Athletics Corey Goff announced this afternoon.

Carney becomes the 10th head coach in program history, bringing a proven record of success, player development, and leadership. He joins Jefferson after serving as associate head coach at fellow Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference member Wilmington University for the past eight years.

During his tenure with the Wildcats, Carney played a key role in four CACC Championship titles and four NCAA East Regional appearances, including this past season. He helped develop 44 All CACC honorees, including three Pitchers of the Year, two Players of the Year, and a Rookie of the Year, along with 22 All East Region selections. Most recently, three Wilmington student athletes earned All America recognition during the 2026 season.

"I am extremely humbled to have been selected as the next Head Baseball Coach at Thomas Jefferson University," said Carney. "I would like to thank Assistant Vice President of Athletics Corey Goff and the entire search committee for their trust and this great opportunity. I am looking forward to meeting with the players and getting to work right away. Thomas Jefferson University is a special place with a lot of history, my family and I are very excited to be a part of the Rams Community!"

In addition to his coaching responsibilities at Wilmington, Carney served for seven years as a University Relations Student Recruiter and spent one season as an Assistant Athletic Facilities Coordinator. His coaching career also includes stops at Widener University and Neumann University.

A former student athlete at Neumann, Carney was a team captain, a recipient of the St. Francis St. Claire Award, and a two-time NCAA Regional participant.

"Jarad separated himself with his proven success and the powerful endorsements we received from highly respected leaders in college athletics and baseball, many with direct ties to him and our program," said Goff. "His energy, passion for the game, and commitment to developing student athletes stood out, and we are thrilled to have him lead Jefferson Baseball into its next chapter."

Carney holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport and Entertainment Management with a minor in Business Administration from Neumann University, earned in 2015.
