Baseball Uses Barrage of Runs to Sweep Lincoln
PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University baseball (15-14, 14-8) hosted Lincoln University (Pa.) (6-25, 2-19) in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader on Saturday. The Rams went to score 31 total runs between both contests, earning the sweep over the Lions.
WHAT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: W, 21-3 (7 INNINGS)
- Jefferson started off strong as Andrew Holub hit a three run homerun in the opening inning. Colin Wilson had a RBI double while Mason Coyne's grounded out score had it at 5-0 early on
- Two runs in the second made it 7-0. Jefferson went to put up six more in the third with a triple, wild pitch, two doubles, and a two-run homerun that had it at 13-0
- Lincoln scored a homerun in the fourth to get a run on the board. An RBI double alongside a fielder's choice in the fifth had it at 15-1
- Jefferson eventually put up six more runs to force a mercy rule in the seventh to win game one 21-3
- Jake Baumann started the game off for Jefferson while Cole Vida closed it out for the Rams

- Lincoln went ahead early on a sacrifice flyout in the first inning, but Jefferson put up five runs at the bottom of the same inning. A two RBI triple, an RBI single, a pop out RBI, and a wild pitch score made it 5-1 for the Rams
- A steal followed by an error in the second made it 6-1 with Jefferson keeping up their scoring attack. A walk with the bases loaded with a two RBI single to the right side had it at 9-1
- Alekesi Goldhill hit a pop out to second that got another runner back to homeplate to make it 10-1
- The Lions had two scores in the final two innings, but Jefferson held on for the win
- Tyler Behm started the game for Jefferson with Trey Eckman and Alex Miller pitching on the mound for the Rams as well
