PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University baseball (10-5) opened Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play as they went against new conference opponent Lincoln University (2-7), where the Rams swept the Lions in both contests.Both Rams pitchers threw complete games against Lincoln, with Albert Bobadilla having a no-hitter and 11 K's while Danny Kerr had 7 K's in game one.
 
WHAT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: W, 20-2 (7 INNINGS)
  • Jefferson got two runs scored in the first off a Jay Kalieta sacrifice bunt and a Thomas Matuszweski single up the middle to have an early lead in the game
  • After another scoreless inning held by the Jefferson outfield, the Rams went on to produce seven runs in the bottom of the second. Luis Beato Mora nailed a two-run homerun to left field for a 4-0 lead. Javon Hernandez followed suit with a three-run homerun for Jefferson
  • A throwing error by the catcher added two more runs on the Jefferson side, making it 9-0 heading to the third
  • The Lions added a run with a solo homerun in the top of the third, but the Rams added five more in the bottom of the same inning. Matuszewski single up the middle brought one runner home while a wild pitch tacked on another Jefferson run. Lou Spadafora joined in on the scoring spree as he hit a two-run homerun to make it 13-1. Another wild pitch put the score at 14-1
  • Jefferson concluded their attack in the bottom of the fourth, putting up six runs to make it 20-1. A pass ball started it off for the Rams. Beato Mora's double turned it to 16-1. Justin Egner hit the fourth homerun for Jefferson, this one a three-run blast to left field. Hernandez single to center field finished it off for Jefferson
  • Lincoln tacked a run off a double in the fifth, but the Rams held strong to a 20-2 win in seven innings
  • Danny Kerr pitched a complete game, allowing six hits and two runs, with one being earned, while striking out seven batters at the plate

  • After a scoreless first inning, Jefferson scored four runs in the bottom of the second. Beato Mora had a run on a fielder's choice while Egner's single up the middle made it 2-0. Kalieta's inside the park two-run homerun made it 4-0 in favor of the Rams
  • The third saw three scores by way of Matuszewski double, Julio Frometa Gomez sacrifice flyout, and Beato Mora double to left center as the game went 7-0 for Jefferson
  • A Gabe Silva single and an error added two more runs in the fourth had it 9-0. Two more errors and a single in the fifth put the game away at 12-0
  • The Lions were able to score on back-to-back errors for Jefferson, but went hitless in the seventh. Albert Bobadilla finished a complete game with a no-hitter, striking out two of the last three batters, making it 11 on the day to give the Rams a victory
