No.25 Baseball Concludes Series with Sweep Against Lincoln

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA – No.25 nationally-ranked Thomas Jefferson University baseball (12-5) concluded their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) series with Lincoln University (2-9) on Saturday. The Rams won both contests, winning 15-4 in game one and 6-1 in game two over the Lions.

WHAT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: W, 15-4 (7 INNINGS)

  • Jefferson got out to an early lead in the first off a Javon Hernandez one-run double. The Rams tacked on four runs in the second as a walk, hit by pitch, fielder's choice, and grounded out all had one run go to homeplate as the game turned into a 5-0 lead for Jefferson

  • The Lions got on the scoreboard from a homerun in the bottom of the second. Jefferson put up three more runs in the third as Thomas Matuszewski hit a sacrifice fly, an error on a Gabe Silva at-bat, and a Just Espinal two-run single turned the lead to 9-1

  • Joshua Lopez sacrifice fly in the fifth had it at 10-1. Jefferson then put up five runs in the sixth to go up 15-4. Lou Spadafora hit a one run RBI single, Justin Egner sacrifice flyout with an error added another while a wild pitch, Hernandez triple, and an error by the catcher got the Rams ahead in the game

  • Lincoln got a score in the sixth from a single and a two-run homerun in the seventh to finish their day as Jefferson won 15-4 in seven innings

  • Tyler Behm took the win as he pitched six innings, allowing five hits and two runs while he struckout a career-high 11 batters
