Women's Volleyball Splits Final Matches on the Day; Gets Win Against California (Pa.) 

WEST CHESTER, PA – Thomas Jefferson University women's volleyball team (1-1) ended their day at the West Chester Invitational on Saturday. The Rams fell to West Chester University (1-2) in the first game, but Jefferson turned it around against California University of Pennsylvania (1-3) to earn their first win of the season. 

GAME TWO: W, 3-0 vs California (Pa.) 

• The Rams and Vulcans traded points throughout the first set, including 15 times where the match was tied 

• California trailed by one point, but Jefferson earned the last four points off two attack errors and an Emily McKenna and Caroline Bond kill to give them the first set 

• The Vulcans got to an early lead in the second set, but the Rams scored six straight points off of Morgan Ritchie and Liz Tanis kills 

• Jefferson kept ahold of their lead, seeing McKenna, Tanis, Bond, and Victoria Hamby all get kills, as they won the second set 25-19 

• Morgan Martin and Jaysa Even helped earn the first four points in the third set 

• California tied the match at 5-5, but another six point run by Jefferson pushed them ahead 

• The Vulcans got as close as seven points near the end of the third set, but Jefferson held on to win 25-16 and get their first win of the season

GAME ONE: L, 0-3 vs West Chester 

• The Rams and Golden Rams began the first set trading points 

• West Chester earned five of the next six points to go up 17-13 

• The Golden Rams kept ahold of their lead, earning match point 24-19 

• Jefferson went to score the next four points and trail 24-23, but an attack error gave West Chester the first set 

• The Golden Rams took the first five points in set two 

• Jefferson took some points in the second, but West Chester maintained their lead to take the second set 25-10 

• Jefferson got out ahead in the third set, scoring six points in a row for an 8-4 advantage 

• West Chester eventually tied it at 11-11 off five straight points 

• Both teams traded points and the lead, getting the third set close at 17-17 

• The Golden Rams ended the set with a 8-3 run, winning 25-20 and taking the series against the Rams
