Women's Volleyball Finishes the Wildcat Regional Invitational 


WILMINGTON, DE. - Thomas Jefferson University (3-6) concluded their time at the Wildcat Regional Invitational as they competed against Southern New Hampshire University (2-5) and Shepherd University (7-0). The Rams fell to the Penmen 3-1 while also dropping to the Rams 3-0. 

WHAT HAPPENED 
GAME ONE: L, 1-3 vs Southern New Hampshire 

  • Jefferson kept going on the attack, pushing their lead to 20-10 

  • The Penmen got as close as seven, but the Rams took the first set 25-17 

  • Southern New Hampshire got a hold of the second set, jumping out to a 14-8 advantage 

  • The Penmen would take the second set 25-11 

  • Jefferson held their own in the third set, pushing ahead 10-7 

  • Southern New Hampshire went and took the lead 

  • The game would see points traded before the Penmen won the third set 25-22 

  • Jefferson got out early to an 7-2 lead early on, but Southern New Hampshire propelled themselves through the set 

  • The Rams kept within range, but unable to retake the lead as they fell 25-18 in the fourth set, giving the win to the Penmen

GAME TWO: L, 0-3 vs Shepherd 

  • Shepherd got out to an early lead, putting themselves up 14-8 

  • Jefferson fought back, getting as close as three points as they made 21-18 off four straight points 

  • Shepherd eventually earned three of the last four points and took the first set 25-19 

  • The second set saw both teams have their highest hitting percentage with Jefferson (.300) and Shepherd (.469) laying it out on the attack 

  • Both teams traded the lead and had it tied multiple times through the contest, eventually seeing Jefferson even it out at 21-21 

  • Shepherd finished the set with the final four points to win 25-21 as they held the 2-0 advantage heading into the third set 

  • Shepherd jumped out to a 10-5 advantage before Jefferson went on a 5-1 run to trail by a point 

  • Each team had a run, with Shepherd earning five in a row while Jefferson took the next four points  

  • Shepherd kept ahold of their lead, eventually winning the third set 25-18 and the series 3-0
