Women's Volleyball Drops CACC Match to Goldey-Beacom
PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University women's volleyball team (6-11, 2-2) hosted their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) matchup against Goldey-Beacom College (8-9, 2-3) on Tuesday night competition. The Rams ultimately dropped their conference clash against the Lightning 3-0 inside the Gallagher Center.
WHAT HAPPENED
- The Rams trailed in the contest early on, fighting back to get within a point of the Lightning. Morgan Ritchie, Emily McKenna, and Jaysa Even had kills during that stretch
- Goldey-Beacom went on a five-point run to keep their lead over Jefferson
- The Rams got as close as three points multiple times off Morgan Martin and Liz Tanis kills, but the Lightning held onto a 25-20 first set win
- Jefferson and Goldey-Beacom had a competitive second set, trading points and the lead multiple times through most of the match
- Even, Ritchie, and Yalerie Acevedo all had kills in the second while Martin, Kristine Guenther, and Pemi Areola produced kills to make the set close
- After tying the set at 17-17, Goldey-Beacom went on a 8-2 run that gave the Lightning the 25-19 win in the second
- Jefferson kept it close to begin the third set at 11-7, but Goldey-Beacom used a six-point run to get the momentum on their side and eventually take the third set 25-12 and win the match over the Rams
