Georgian Court Takes Down Women's Volleyball in Four Sets
PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University women's volleyball team (6-13, 2-3) looked to get back on track as they competed on Wednesday night against Georgian Court University (9-7, 6-1). The Rams took the first set but ultimately fell to the Lions 3-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.
WHAT HAPPENED
- The beginning saw both teams trading points, with the Rams going up 7-4 by way of Morgan Ritchie, Emily McKenna, and Jaysa Even kills
- The Lions kept it close, eventually trailing by one point off a four-point stretch to make it 15-14
- Jefferson slowly began to pull away, getting multiple two-point sprees that pushed them to a 25-19 first set win
- After the Rams got ahead 3-1, Georgian Court went on a 5-1 run to take the lead
- Both teams had multiple runs in the second, with Jefferson having three straight points twice while the Lions putting in four in a row as Georgian Court got up 13-10
- The Rams battled back to tie the match at 18-18, but the Lions secured seven of the last eight points to take set two 25-19
- A competitive third set began with Georgian Court putting themselves ahead 7-2. Jefferson pushed to a 10-2 spree to take the lead
- Both squads traded points periodically, with neither team holding more than a two point advantage
- With both teams extending the set past the 25 point benchmark, Georgian Court was able to secure four of the last five to earn the third set win 28-26
- The fourth had both teams being equal with their attacks, but the Lions went on a 6-0 run to get ahead 19-13
- The Rams bounced back and trailed as close as three points, but fell to Georgian Court 25-20 in the fourth as it secured a 3-1 win for the Lions
