Women's Volleyball Sweeps Felician


PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University women's volleyball team (7-13, 3-3) hosted Felician University (5-15, 2-7) in Saturday afternoon Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) competition. The Rams got into the win column, securing a 3-0 sweep over the Golden Falcons. 

WHAT HAPPENED 

  • The first set saw the Golden Falcons hold the edge over the Rams, getting their lead to 12-7. Jefferson went on a 10-3 run to get ahead of Felician. Pemi Areolan had three blocks in that stretch with Morgan Martin and Emily McKenna assisting her. McKenna also had two kills in that run 

  • Both teams traded points with the Golden Falcons going back up 22-20 after earning three straight. The Rams fought back to take the last five points, wining the first set 25-20 

  • After being down 9-7 in the second set, Jefferson put up six in a row to take the lead. Felician fought back to tie it at 20-20, but four straight points in favor of the Rams got them to match point 

  • The Golden Falcons threatened to push past that, but a block by Liz Tanis and Caroline Bond sealed the second set 25-23 for the Rams 

  • Jefferson built themselves a 10-3 lead in the third with Morgan Ritchie and McKenna kills 

  • Areola, Ritchie, and Bond each had a kill during the third set, with McKenna getting the final point for Jefferson to earn a 25-18 third set win and taking the series 3-0 

  • Areola recorded five of her career-high nine blocks in the third set for Jefferson
