Women's Volleyball Sweeps Felician

PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University women's volleyball team (7-13, 3-3) hosted Felician University (5-15, 2-7) in Saturday afternoon Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) competition. The Rams got into the win column, securing a 3-0 sweep over the Golden Falcons.

WHAT HAPPENED

The first set saw the Golden Falcons hold the edge over the Rams, getting their lead to 12-7. Jefferson went on a 10-3 run to get ahead of Felician. Pemi Areolan had three blocks in that stretch with Morgan Martin and Emily McKenna assisting her. McKenna also had two kills in that run

Both teams traded points with the Golden Falcons going back up 22-20 after earning three straight. The Rams fought back to take the last five points, wining the first set 25-20

After being down 9-7 in the second set, Jefferson put up six in a row to take the lead. Felician fought back to tie it at 20-20, but four straight points in favor of the Rams got them to match point

The Golden Falcons threatened to push past that, but a block by Liz Tanis and Caroline Bond sealed the second set 25-23 for the Rams

Jefferson built themselves a 10-3 lead in the third with Morgan Ritchie and McKenna kills

Areola, Ritchie, and Bond each had a kill during the third set, with McKenna getting the final point for Jefferson to earn a 25-18 third set win and taking the series 3-0

Areola recorded five of her career-high nine blocks in the third set for Jefferson

Bond and Kristine Guenther each had 13 assists apiece on the day
