NEW HAVEN, Conn. (Aug. 31, 2026) – Thomas Jefferson University volleyball standouts
Emily McKenna (Drexel Hill, Pa. / Sacred Heart Academy) and
Lyllah Sapp (Bakersfield, Calif. / Frontier) earned Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) weekly honors following their performances during the opening weekend of the 2026 season.
McKenna was named the outright CACC Player of the Week, while Sapp collected both CACC Rookie of the Week and Setter of the Week honors.
McKenna helped lead the Rams to a 2-1 record at the PSAC East Kickoff, averaging 3.90 kills and 2.50 digs per set while hitting .292 across the three matches. The senior outside hitter delivered her best performance in Jefferson's season-opening sweep of Millersville University, recording 21 kills on a .528 hitting percentage while adding eight digs.
Sapp made an immediate impact in her first collegiate action, averaging 10.89 assists and 1.78 digs per set over the weekend. The freshman setter totaled 35 assists and six digs in the three-set victory over Millersville before registering 42 assists and six digs in a four-set setback against West Virginia State University.
Jefferson opened the season 2-1 at the PSAC East Kickoff. McKenna and Sapp will look to create more momentum when the Rams host St. Thomas Aquinas College in the opening game of this weekend's inaugural Jefferson Volleyball Invitational on Friday, Sept. 4 at 10 a.m.
