Baseball Wins Sunday Matinee at Dominican to Split Season Series with the Chargers

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) baseball team (15-23, 12-12 CACC) won a Sunday afternoon road game against the Dominican (N.Y.) Chargers (13-26, 11-11 CACC) from Veteran's Memorial Park in Orangeburg, N.Y. by a final of 4-2.

The Rams played a single game to close out their busy road weekend on Sunday. In a makeup game originally scheduled back on March 25, Jefferson was able to salvage a series split with Dominican after today's victory to move to 12-12 in CACC play on the year.

Jefferson managed to go up early behind three runs in the second. Timothy Brodhag started the top of the inning with a double before an RBI single by Austin Torres brought him home, 1-0. A single by Ryan Gonzalez put runners on first and second before the Rams made two outs. Arturo Figueroa notched a two-out, RBI single to score Torres before Gonzalez scored on an ensuing throwing error, 3-0.

Dominican managed two runs in the affair, one in each the fourth and seventh innings, 3-2.

Joseph Iannuzzi recorded an RBI triple in the ninth to bring home the Rams' fourth run as they held on for the 4-2 win.

Jake Goldberg (W, 2-2) pitched 6.0 innings with three strikeouts, allowing just two hits, no walks and one earned run. Daniel Sabath closed out the final 3.0 innings for his second save of the season as he gave up one hit and one unearned run.
