Men's soccer upended by Post

WATERBURY, Conn. – Defender Angelo Dambalas (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) scored for the second straight match, but the Philadelphia University men's soccer team was upended by host Post, 2-1, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match Saturday on LaMoy Field.

With the Rams (2-1-1, 1-1-0 CACC) trailing 1-0, Philadelphia was awarded a penalty kick for a Post foul inside the 18-yard box. Dambalas stepped up beat Eagle keeper Baba Gaye with his attempt at the 55:00 mark to tie the match at one.

Post (2-2-0, 1-0-0 CACC) used a corner kick to reclaim its advantage at 72:45. Stefan Tomasevic managed to get his head on the Francisco Sastre corner and found the back of the net to make the score 2-1.

The Eagles took the 1-0 lead on a successful first half penalty kick attempt by Anthony Asante.

In goal, Philadelphia's Ben Sauer (Bel Air, Md./Perry Hall Christian) stopped three shots, while Gaye made two saves.

The Rams outshot the Eagles 11-8.

Philadelphia hosts Mercy in a non-conference clash on Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 4 p.m.
