CALDWELL, N.J. (Oct. 4, 2026) – A familiar offensive flurry helped spark the Thomas Jefferson University men's soccer team to a key tie on the road at Caldwell University on Saturday afternoon.
Similar to the Rams' recent game with Goldey-Beacom College, sophomore defender
Brandon Murataj (Abington, Pa. / Abington) opened scoring for Jefferson, once again converting on a set piece from senior midfielder
Miles Hood (Newark, Del. / Caravel Academy). This time, however, Murataj's opening goal would not come until the second half, giving the visiting Rams a limited amount of time to overcome the Cougars.
Jefferson' attacking nature persisted throughout the period, but after conceding a penalty kick opportunity just seven minutes later, the Rams did not have to wait long for an answer. This time, the answer came from senior forward
Cole McEvoy (Gap, Pa. / Pequea Valley / Loyola University Maryland), who continued his good run of recent form with another Hood-assisted goal in the 63rd minute. From there, scoring opportunities would be plentiful for both teams with McEvoy catching the post in the 81st minute, and while two late Caldwell shots were denied by Rams defenders, neither team was able to break the gridlock. Sophomore goalkeeper
J.R. Sexton (Kitchener, Ontario, Canada / St. Mary's Kitchener) played the entire game in net for Jefferson, collecting four saves to keep the visitors within striking distance.
Ever since their 6-1 drubbing on Bryant & Stratton College at The Proving Grounds a couple weeks back, the Rams have begun to find their groove as the schedule has turned over to CACC play. This week they scored six goals over two games at a +2 goal differential and earned three points for their efforts.
Head Coach
Jason Rocha and the Rams will look to gain more points in the CACC standings when they head up the road to Chestnut Hill College on Wednesday, Oct. 7 under the lights.
