PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Oct. 7, 2026) – The Thomas Jefferson University men's soccer team remained one of the hottest teams in the CACC when they went up the road to Chestnut Hill College and blanked the Griffins, 3-0.
From the onset, the Rams were poised to be the team with the greater offensive volume, and that manifested in two first-half goals. Senior
Parker Smith (Huntsville, Ala. / Montverde Academy) opened scoring in the 18th minute when he took a pass from junior
Haziel Rodriguez (Philadelphia, Pa. / Thomas Campus) and buried it for his first goal of the season in an NCAA game.
With a goal in hand, Jefferson remained determined to keep the pressure on. Less than 15 minutes later, senior forward
Cole McEvoy (Gap, Pa. / Pequea Valley / Loyola University Maryland) notched his third goal in as many games, which sent the Rams into the break with a 2-0 lead. McEvoy was the Rams' most consistent offensive force over his 83 minutes of action, finishing the game with an additional three chances next to his lead-padding goal. Senior
Lesedi Hlbeli (Midrand, South Africa / Reddford House Blue Hills) assisted on McEvoy's goal.
Jefferson's final goal, which was scored while holding the Griffins to five shots on net all turned away by sophomore
J.R. Sexton (Kitchener, Ontario, Canada / St. Mary's Kitchener), came off the foot of sophomore
Will Lynch (Bensalem, Pa. / Notre Dame). The midfielder banged home the Rams' third and final goal of the game from senior
Leonell Aguilar (Royersford, Pa. / Spring-Ford) in the game's waning seconds. While the Griffins drew dead on scoring chances in the first half, they challenged Sexton in the Rams' net consistently in the ensuing half though the sophomore held strong to earn the clean sheet.
Head Coach
Jason Rocha and the Rams, despite their recent run remain in a logjam in the CACC standings. Eight out of 11 teams have at least seven point on the year, including the Rams. They will look to separate themselves from the rest of the conference when they play Felician University under the lights on Sunday, Oct. 11. Kick-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
