Men's soccer falls to Chestnut Hill in regular season finale

LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. – The Philadelphia University men's soccer team concluded the regular season with a 2-0 loss to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent Chestnut Hill Thursday night at Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School.

Philadelphia finishes the season with an overall of 8-5-4 and a conference mark of 6-4-2. Chestnut Hill improves to 7-6-2 overall, 6-4-2 against the CACC.

The two teams will meet in the opening round of the CACC Tournament on Monday, Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. at Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School.

After a scoreless opening 55 minutes, Nicholas Jaffe put the host Griffins in front at 55:07 with the front of his two goals. Jaffe was left alone to go one-on-one with Ram keeper Eric Gutierrez (Croydon, Pa./Harry S. Truman) and managed to put the ball by for the opener.

Jaffe struck again at 86:28 on a free kick from 35 yards away to secure the match for Chestnut Hill.

Philadelphia had 25 shots at the Chestnut Hill net, the Rams' fourth highest shot total of the season. The Rams are 1-3-1 when they attempt at least 20 shots.

Seiji Rose (Toulouse, France/Lycee Climatique et Sportif Pierre de Coubertin) led the team with six shot attempts, two on target.

Chestnut Hill's James Jackson made eight saves to record the shutout. Gutierrez stopped one shot in his 2015 debut.
