Victor Chagonda (Harare, Zimbabwe/St. George's) was responsible for the match's only goal—his 11th overall and second in the tournament—at the 18:59 mark. James Ruff (Seaville, N.J./Ocean City) played a long ball over the Wilmington (13-8-0) defense and found a wide-open Chagonda, who was able to slide the ball by charging keeper Frank Hall.
Philadelphia keeper Thomas Attamante (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) made the Chagonda goal hold up, making five saves over the final 70 minutes. Four of his five saves came in the second half.
Hall stopped four shots for the Wildcats.
Wilmington outshot Philadelphia, 8-5, and owned a 7-0 corner kick advantage.
Chagonda was tabbed as the CACC Tournament MVP and was joined on the all-tournament team by Jordan Lynch (Brampton, Ontario/St. Marguerite d'Youville), Seiji Rose (Toulouse, France/Lycee Climatique et Sportif Pierre de Coubertin), Ishmaiah Calwire (Baltimore, Md./Randallstown), and Attamante.
