NEW CASTLE, Del. – Junior second baseman John Sczepanski (Lafayette Hill, Pa./La Salle College HS) hit his first career home run in the Philadelphia University baseball team's 3-2 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) loss to No. 8 Wilmington (Del.) in the regular season finale Wednesday on Wilson Field.

The Rams end the regular season with a 19-27-1 mark and a 12-8 CACC record. Philadelphia earned the fourth seed for the CACC Championship Tournament and will face fifth-seed Felician in the opening round on Tuesday, May 7 at 2 p.m. Due to graduation setup taking place on Alumni Field, the game will be played off-campus at a site to be determined.

The Wildcats improve to 37-12 overall and 17-3 in the CACC. Wilmington will be the number one seed for the conference tournament.

With one out and junior first baseman Jordan Force (East Greenville, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) on base, Sczepanski drove a Peter Monahan offering over the left field fence to pull the Rams within 3-2.

Josh Hampton gave Wilmington a 1-0 lead with the bottom of the first with a RBI single groundout that scored Frank Samluk, who doubled and went to third on a wild pitch.

The Rams finished the game with 12 hits, three each from sophomore Ken McCormick (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) and senior designated hitter Jeff Bohus (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill E.).
