Rams fall to Kutztown on Senior Day, 17-2

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University baseball team was defeated by visiting Kutztown, 17-2, in a non-conference game Sunday afternoon on Alumni Field.

Philadelphia is now 17-24-1 overall, while Kutztown goes to 25-9.

Before the game started, head coach Pat Horvath and the Philadelphia University department of athletics honored the baseball team's three seniors: pitchers Russell Trojan (Springfield, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) and Mike Ross (Newtown Square, Pa./Marple Newtown), and first baseman Jeff Bohus (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill E.).

Junior left fielder Jordan Force (East Greenville, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) was responsible for bringing in both of the Philadelphia runs with a two-out double in the third that scored freshman second baseman Michael Treglia (Danbury, Conn./Danbury) and sophomore center fielder Ken McCormick (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury), who walked and doubled, respectively.

The Golden Bears scored in each of the first seven innings, including four runs in the fifth and five in the seventh. Brandon Martinez went 4-for-4 with five RBIs, including a two-run double in the second. Matt Albaugh drove in three runs with a 2-for-2 day at the plate.

Damon Valloreo was the winning pitcher after coming into the game in the fifth to post a scoring inning. Ross took the loss. He struck out four batters in four innings.

Philadelphia ends the season with five road games. The first comes on Tuesday, April 23 at East Stroudsburg starting at 3 p.m.
