Box Score 2 SAVANNAH, Ga. – A seven-run third inning allowed the Philadelphia University baseball team to pick up a 7-3 game one victory and get a split in its doubleheader against Armstrong Atlantic Thursday afternoon. Armstrong came back for a 6-3 game two win.
In the opener, the Rams (3-10-1) trailed 2-0 after the Pirates (12-7) pushed a run across in each of the first two innings. Junior left fielder Shane Yoshiyama (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou School) started the rally with a one-out base hit. Sophomore shortstop Hunter Greenwood (Salisbury, Md./James M. Bennett), who went 4-for-5 in the game, drove Yoshiyama in with a triple. Greenwood came home on an error on a ball hit by junior center fielder Rick Reigner (Havertown, Pa./Monsignor Bonner).
After back-to-back hit batters loaded the bases, the Rams recorded three straight hits to add five more runs. Junior catcher TJ Burgmann (Philadelphia, Pa./La Salle College HS) brought in two runs on a base hit to right field. Junior second baseman John Sczepanski (Lafayette Hill, Pa./La Salle College HS) came through with a RBI double. Junior third baseman Chris Pelaez (Miami, Fla./Sunset) finished the scoring by bringing home the final two runs with a base hit to center field.
Armstrong got two runs back thanks to a Will Thomas walk in the third and a R.J. Dennard RBI groundout in the fourth.
The game remained 7-4 until the bottom of the ninth when Dalton Johnson hit a sacrifice fly.
Sophomore starting pitcher David Lerro (Secane, Pa./Upper Darby) earned the victory for Philadelphia after allowing four runs—three earned—on eight hits and fanning four. Freshman closer Luke Floer (Brewster, N.Y./North Salem) pitched the ninth to post his second save.

Armstrong scored a single run in the second and fourth before breaking the game open with a three-run fifth inning. Chase Butler, Dennard, and Clay Miller had back-to-back-to-back RBI singles in the fifth.
Philadelphia got a run back one inning later when senior first baseman Jeff Bohus (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill E.) connected for a triple to right that plated McCormick to make the score 5-2.
After the Pirates added a run in the seventh, Bohus came through again with a base hit to once again bring home McCormick.
