Baseball Gets it Done in 6-4 Win at Sciences, Drops Second Game 9-5

Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University baseball team (3-17, 2-6 CACC) picked up a 6-4 win and then a 9-5 loss at the University of the Sciences (6-15, 5-5 CACC) at Richie Ashburn Field on Sunday.

PhilaU senior shortstop Anthony DiFrancesco led the Rams in the first game, going 4-5 at the plate with two RBIs.  In that contest, the Rams outhit the Devils 12-4.  PhilaU took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a Rick Reigner steal at home and rookie catcher T.J. Burgmann's RBI single. 

The Devils came back in the third with an unearned run on a PhilaU fielding error, then took a 4-2 lead in the fourth on three runs and two errors.  The Rams got things going in the seventh to tie it 4-4 as sophomore first baseman Jeffrey Bohus hit an RBI single.

The Rams won it in the eighth as DiFrancesco singled in two runs to secure a 6-4 win. PhilaU winning pitcher junior Kevin McGovern improved to 2-2 and rookie pitcher Don Bradley got the save in one inning of work.  USci's Greg Nealis (0-1) picked up the loss. 

There were 12 combined errors in the first game. 

PhilaU will head to Wilmington University in their next contest on Wednesday (4/6) for a 3 p.m. single CACC game.
