Rams Fall To USP In Both Doubleheader Games

Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University baseball team (8-18, 6-8 CACC) fell to the University of the Sciences Sunday afternoon in both non-conference doubleheader games.  USP won the first game 2-0 and the second 3-2.

In the first game freshman pitcher Russell Trojan (Springfield, PA/Cardinal O'Hara) pitched the game for the Rams.

USP scored both their runs in the fifth but Rams were unable to answer.  The two hits that the Rams had were from freshman catcher Kevin Gibbs (Pitman, NJ/Pitman) and senior short-stop Tyler Mentzer (Gettysburg, PA/Delone Catholic). 

In the second game freshman pitcher Mike DeLaney (Springfield, PA/Springfield-Delco) started off the game for the Rams.

The Rams led it 1-0 going into the fifth inning.  The run came in the second by junior outfielder Kevin McGovern (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) after Gibbs singled to centerfield. 

The other run was scored by freshman utility player Jeff Bohus (Cherry Hill,NJ/Cherry Hill East) when McGovern hit a sac-fly to left field, to make it 3-2.

The team will pick up play on Wednesday (4/21) at the University of the Sciences in a conference 4:00 p.m. single game.
