Box Score 2 Philadelphia, PA- The
Philadelphia University baseball team (8-16, 6-8 CACC) lost both
doubleheader games vs. Post University (16-18, 7-7 CACC) on a windy
Saturday (4/17) afternoon. Post took the first game 6-2 and
the second 3-1 in their conference match up.
The Rams junior pitcher Kevin McGovern
(Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) started the first game off at
the mound getting five strike-outs. Senior pitcher
Eric Miele (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick)
stepped in, in the ninth inning to finish the game.
Going into the sixth inning, the Eagles were winning 3-0.
The Rams came up in the bottom scoring two runs. Freshman
utility player Jeffery Bohus (Cherry Hill,
NJ/Cherry Hill East) hit a double to right field, bringing in
freshman catcher Kevin Gibbs (Pitman,
NJ/Pitman). Gibbs also scored on a hit from senior first
baseman Rob Fisher (Langhorne, PA/Archbishop
Ryan), making it 3-2.
The Eagles came back in the seventh answering with their own two
runs and scoring one more in the ninth to make it 6-2.
In the second game, senior pitcher Brian
Rousseau (Wantagh, NY/Wantagh) started the game on
the mound, with junior pitcher Jared Farbman
(Philadelphia, PA/Central) relieving him in the fifth inning.
Post scored all three of their runs in the fourth inning, but
PhilaU was not able to react. The Rams lone run came in the
ninth inning from senior short-stop Tyler Mentzer
(Gettysburg, PA/Delone Catholic).
The Rams will host the University of the
Sciences tomorrow (4/18) for a non-conference
match-up starting at 12:00 p.m. The winner of game one will
play in the Bill Giles Tournament at Citizens Bank Park later this
week.
