Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University baseball team (1-2) suffered their first losses of the season in a doubleheader at Columbus State University (2-5) on Saturday afternoon.  The Rams fell 8-0 in the first contest and 17-0 in the second game.

PhilaU managed just three hits in game one, highlighted by an eighth inning double from sophomore designated hitter Kevin McGovern (Philadelphia, PA/ Archbishop Ryan).  Senior pitcher Kyle Noonan (Morristown, NJ/ Morristown) took the loss for the Rams, giving up nine hits and five runs in 4.0 innings pitched.  CSU's Anthony Arrington (1-1) got the win for the Cougars.

In game two, the Cougars unloaded five runs in the first inning off three hits to take an early 5-0 lead. The Rams could not manage any offense in the top of the second and CSU responded with six more runs- including a three-run homer from Thomas Morrison to go up 11-0.

CSU hurler Jared Coker baffled PhilaU batters, notching nine strikeouts in a seven-inning no-hitter that ended early due to the mercy rule.  PhilaU rookie pitcher Garrett Buehler (Harleysville, PA/ Souderton) (0-1) took the loss for the Rams in 2.1 innings of work, giving up 13 runs.

The Rams will take a three-week breather before hosting their first doubleheader of the season, on Saturday (3/10) at 12:00 p.m.
