Philadelphia, PA- Junior John
Cloud (Whitefish, MT/ Whitefish) headed in a crossed
ball from sophomore Mike Mousaw (Marmora,
NJ/ Ocean City) just ten minutes into the first period, but it
would not be enough as the Philadelphia University men's soccer
team (2-3-2, 0-2 CACC) dropped their second straight match 3-2 to
Post University (6-2-1, 2-1 CACC) on Monday afternoon.
The Rams took an early 1-0 lead with Cloud's goal, but the
Eagles tied it up at 31:47 when Post's Jose Chavez footed in a
loose ball.
In the second period the Eagles pushed ahead with a score from
Francis Eno at 51:31, then Post's Eurica Trowers blasted a penalty
kick into the left corner of the net just seven minutes later for
the eventual game-winner.
Ram junior Kris Perez (Parlin, NJ/ CBA) took a
shot with under 15 minutes remaining and was taken down while
pursing his own rebound; he then nailed his penalty kick to close
the gap 3-2.
Phila U. had several late scoring opportunities, as junior
forward Svetozar Gladic (Novi Sad, Serbia) took a
direct kick at 6:30, but his ball flicked off a Post
defender. Sophomore Spencer Reiter
(Melbourne, FL/ Satellite) nearly tied it up with three minutes
remaining, but headed the ball right at the Post goalie as the Rams
could not convert.
Ram senior keeper Charles Custer (Cinnaminson,
NJ/ Cinnaminson) had 10 saves, while Post goalie Michael Aeschliman
had seven stops.
The team will travel to Kutztown on Wednesday, September 24th
for a 4:30 p.m. match.
