Baseball Picks Up Dominant Win Over Clarion

WILSON, N.C. - Getting down to North Carolina to compete in the Wilson Tobs Tournament for the second straight has shown positive results for the Rams, being 3-1 in their games last season. They looked to keep that going as the Thomas Jefferson University baseball team (3-1) showed why they deserve the receiving votes in the national poll as they put a 11-1 win over Clarion University (2-3) on Friday evening competition.

WHAT HAPPENED

  • Jefferson showed up in the first with Gabe Silva hitting a two-run RBI double and Justin Espinal making a sacrifice fly down at to center field to get them up early 3-0

  • Silva added another run to the scoreboard with his own sacrifice fly to left field. Kyle Kozlowski brought runners from second and third home on a double to center field, having it at 6-0 after two innings

  • Silva brought another runner in with a right field single, getting the score at 7-0 after four innings. The Golden Eagles responded with a run in the top of the sixth from a throwing error by the shortstop

  • Rams finished their scoring in the bottom of the same inning with Espinal and Julio Frometa Gomez each hitting a two-run double to the outfield, making it 11-1 that would stay this way for the rest of the game

  • Danny Kerr (2-0) ended the game with 6.0 innings pitched, had a season-high 10 kills on the day with only two hits to take the victory. Kevin Baez, Aiden Barbour, and Kris Giangreco all had an inning pitched with at least one strikeout on the day
