Women's Volleyball Takes CACC Sweep Over Chestnut Hill
PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University women's volleyball (5-9, 1-1) hit .314 percent of their attacks on the night and held off the Griffins multiple times as the Rams earned the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) 3-0 victory over Chestnut Hill College (5-4, 1-2) in Friday afternoon action.
WHAT HAPPENED
- The Rams went up 5-1 early in the first
- After Chestnut Hill tied it at 6-6, Jefferson went on to take eight straight points, earning an 11-2 run that gave the Rams a 17-8 lead
- The Griffins fought back, getting as close as five points, but Jefferson took the last three for the 25-17 win in set one
- Second set saw both teams trading points and the lead
- Chestnut Hill went up late in the set 19-17 before Jefferson took the next four points to go ahead once more
- The Griffins got as close as one point, including making the match 24-23
- The Rams earned the last kill to win the second set and go into the third with a 2-0 advantage
- Another 5-1 start for Jefferson got them out ahead early
- Being down 9-3, the Griffins went to earn the next seven points as they went ahead of the Rams
- Jefferson began to go on multiple runs, with two three-pointers as well as six in a row as the Rams didn't let Chestnut Hill get as close as five points to take the third set 25-19 and win their CACC matchup in a sweep.
