WILMINGTON, DE. – Thomas Jefferson University women's volleyball team (10-14, 5-4) headed into this match fifth in the conference, just outside the tournament bubble. Looking to start a run for postseason play, the Rams earned a 3-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) sweep over Wilmington University (11-15, 6-5) in Wednesday night action.
 
WHAT HAPPENED
  • Jefferson got out early to an 8-1 lead over Wilmington, with Morgan Martin, Morgan Ritchie, and Jaysa Even getting kills while Caroline Bond had back-to-back service aces
  • The Rams put a five-point spree on the Wildcats, adding to their lead as it became 16-4
  • Wilmington, down 22-9, added five of the last eight points in the set but Jefferson left with a commanding 25-14 win as they went into the second set
  • Both teams traded points before six straight went in favor of the Rams gave them a 10-5 lead with Ritchie earning a kill alongside Emily McKenna and Liz Tanis
  • Jefferson kept ahold of their lead, alternating points with the Wildcats
  • Wilmington kept close with the Rams, getting as close as 22-19 near the end of the set
  • The Rams took the final three points, winning he second set 25-19
  • After a 6-4 beginning in the third, Jefferson went on an 8-1 run that saw four McKenna kills as the game was 15-5 in favor of the Rams
  • Wilmington took five of the next six points to trail by six, but a 7-1 spree for Jefferson had it 23-11. That run for the Rams saw four service aces with Bond and Ritchie had two apiece, with the team having 13 on the night
  • The Wildcats had four of the last six points in the set, but Jefferson used a block by Martin and Tanis to end the match 25-15 along with a 3-0 series, earning the CACC win

1,000 DIGS PUTS RITCHIE IN SCHOOL HISTORY
Ritchie had 10 digs on the night for Jefferson, reaching 1,000 digs in her career. She reached that feat during the second set. That helped Ritchie become just the fourth player in school history to reach the milestone of 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in her career, joining Emily Krauss, Celena Rendon, and Courtney Wensel on that list. She currently has 1,006 digs in her career while ranking third in Rams history with 1,268 kills.
