Volleyball Earns Win in Four Sets Against Georgian Court
PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University women's volleyball team (5-6, 2-0) played their first game in Gallagher Athletic Center where they won a 3-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest 3-1 against Georgian Court University.
WHAT HAPPENED
After having it tied at 2-2, the Rams would take the next six points to push themselves ahead 8-2. Jefferson would continue their attack, getting ahead 16-7 on the night. Georgian Court would bring it to 19-13, but the Rams would take six of the last seven points to take set one 25-14.
The Lions would respond by jumping out to a 8-4 lead to begin the second set. After trailing 14-9, the Rams would earn seven points in a row to jump ahead 16-14 before the Georgian Court tied it up again. Jefferson would take the next point, but the Lions took their offensive attack late in the set as they scored five in a row to be up 21-17. The Rams would go on a 6-2 run to even it out, but two in a row from the Lions would give Georgian Court the 25-23 win in the second set.
Both teams would get even to begin the third with the game tied at 5-5. Jefferson would jump ahead in a 6-1 run to take the lead 12-6. The Lions got within four points, but a 10-2 run sealed the third set 25-13 for Jefferson and a 2-1 advantage heading into the fourth.
The Rams kept the momentum from the last set as they went on a 10-2 run again to take the early lead. Georgian Court would take three of the next four points, but the Jefferson would not slow down their offense as they made their lead 17-7. After two more points for the Lions, an 8-1 run for the Rams would seal the fourth set 25-10 and the 3-1 CACC victory for Jefferson.
