Volleyball Swept By Shippensburg
SHIPPENSBURG, PA – The Thomas Jefferson University volleyball team (4-6) went on the road where they fell in non-conference action to Shippensburg University 3-0 in Tuesday night action.
WHAT HAPPENED
After tying it at 3-3, Jefferson would take the lead off a Raider error. Shippensburg would get ahead 12-6, forcing a Ram timeout. Being down 18-10, Jefferson would mount a comeback, eventually getting the game tied at 24-24 before Shippensburg took the last two points to win 26-24 in the first set.
Both teams would trade points in the early stages of the second set, being tied seven different times with the game even at 13-13. The Raiders would go on a 9-4 run to get ahead 22-17. Shippensburg would then take three of the last five points to take the second set 25-19.
Jefferson jumped out to a 4-2 lead to begin the third set. After the Raiders tied it up at 5-5, the Rams took the next three points to go up 8-5. Shippensburg then went on a 7-1 run to force a Jefferson timeout to go ahead 12-9. The Raiders would continue their attack, going ahead 18-11. The Rams would get within five points at 20-15, but Shippensburg were able to close out the third set with a 25-18 win and earn the sweep.
