PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University baseball team (19-16, 10-7 CACC) pounded out 35 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Nyack on Wednesday.
GAME ONE – W, 19-2
The Rams put up an eight-spot in the opening frame to take control early. Jefferson recorded four hits, benefitted from two errors, and drew three walks. In addition, three runs came home on wild pitches.
Justin Espinal recorded a two-run single in the second to up the lead to 10. The Rams tacked on five more runs in the third on a two-run base hit by
Ryan Coyle and a bases-clearing triple by
Ryan Sawyer. The Warriors got on the board with two runs in the fourth on a homer and an error. Jefferson added three runs in the bottom of the fourth and one in the fifth.

GAME TWO – W, 16-6
Jefferson posted eight runs in the first once again, needing just three hits to do so. The Rams drew four walks and two hit by pitches while also scoring three runs on wild pitches.
Zack Austin increased the advantage to nine with a lead-off homer in the second, his team-leading eighth jack of the year.
Nyack pushed a run across in the third before Jefferson added two on a sacrifice fly and a single. The Warriors made the score 11-3 with a pair of runs in the fifth but the Rams answered with three in the bottom half.
In the sixth, Nyack bashed a two-run homer and added an RBI double to get within eight (14-6). Jefferson's final runs came on a wild pitch and an RBI single in its half of the sixth.
