BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The Thomas Jefferson University baseball team (8-7) took both games of a doubleheader at Bridgeport on Sunday, allowing just three runs over the two contests.
GAME ONE – W, 7-1
The two sides were scoreless into the fifth inning when the Rams broke through for a pair of runs.
Dylan Rees and
Arturo Figueroa hit back-to-back RBI singles to put Jefferson ahead 2-0. The Purple Knights got one back in the bottom of the frame on an RBI base hit.
Nursing a one-run lead in the seventh, the Rams came through with five runs to provide insurance. Figueroa and
Zack Austin both drew bases-loaded walks and
Vince Barone cleared the bases with a three-run double down the left field line.
Jem Sisco then struck out the side in the bottom of the seventh to finish off the complete-game gem.

GAME TWO – W, 4-2
The Purple Knights got the first run on the board with an RBI single in the opening frame. Jefferson evened it up in the second with an RBI groundout. In the fourth,
Zack Austin smacked an RBI triple before scoring on
Vince Barone's base hit to give the Rams a 3-1 advantage.
Bridgeport put the tying run on in both the fourth and fifth innings but
Patrick Hohlfeld got out of both frames unscathed. Jefferson added another run in the seventh on a two-out RBI double by
Arturo Figueroa. In the bottom of the seventh, the Purple Knights put the first two men on and scored one to make it 4-2. Bridgeport had first and second with only one out but a fielder's choice and a groundout closed out the win for the Rams.
