LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Thomas Jefferson University volleyball team (11-4, 6-2 CACC) got back on track with a 3-1 win at Georgian Court (7-11, 3-4 CACC) on Thursday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The teams were even at three in the opening set before the Rams went on a 7-1 run to go in front. Jefferson led by as many as nine (15-6) but the Lions roared back and closed the gap to one (21-20). The Rams held on, though, and took the frame, 25-23.
Jefferson trailed 8-7 in the second but rallied for a massive 15 straight points to take control. The Rams cruised to a 25-11 victory. GCU recovered in the third and used a 7-1 surge to take a 13-9 advantage. Jefferson slowly cut into the deficit and tied it up at 19. However, the Lions responded with six of the next eight to win the set, 25-21.
After the Rams scored the first two points of the fourth, Georgian Court scored four in a row to go ahead. Jefferson was behind 14-12 before posting three consecutive points for its first lead of the set at 15-14. The Rams were still ahead by one (17-16) before pulling away with a 5-1 stretch en route to a 25-20 victory to clinch the match.
