WATERBURY, Conn. – The Thomas Jefferson University volleyball team (12-5, 7-2 CACC) split a tri-match on Saturday afternoon, defeating Post, 3-0, in a CACC match, and falling to American International in non-conference action, 3-0.
MATCH ONE – W, 3-0 at Post
The Rams scored the first five points of the match and did not trail on the way to a 25-17 win in the opening set. The Eagles came back to do the same in the second, getting out to a 5-0 lead. Post was ahead 15-7 when Jefferson rallied for seven straight points to get back into the frame. Trailing 17-15, the Rams completed their comeback with a 6-0 run to go in front, 21-17. Jefferson went on to take the set, 25-22.
The teams were even at five in the third set then the Rams posted a 13-2 surge to take control, 18-7. Jefferson cruised to a 25-10 victory to finish off the sweep.

MATCH TWO – L, 3-0 vs. American International
The score was tied at two early in the first set. The Yellow Jackets then scored four in a row to take the lead. AIC had another 4-0 run moments later to make it 11-4. The Yellow Jackets also had runs of 6-1 and 7-1 to roll to a 25-12 win.
In the second, the Rams nursed a 3-2 advantage but American International rallied for eight consecutive points to go ahead 10-3. The score was 15-10 before the Yellow Jackets recorded six in a row and they went on to take the frame, 25-14.
The third set was tighter than the first two and Jefferson was ahead 14-13 at the midpoint. However, AIC surged once again, scoring eight of the next 10 to take control, 21-16. The Rams were able to cut the deficit to one but the Yellow Jackets registered a kill to clinch the match with a 25-23 triumph.
