Box Score Caldwell, NJ- It did not take long for the
Philadelphia University Rams (17-6, 9-1 CACC) to dismantle the
Caldwell College Cougars (3-18, 2-11 CACC) 71-44 at the Newman
Center on Sunday afternoon. The win- number 897 for PhilaU
coaching legend Herb Magee- was helped by PhilaU
senior guard Russell Frederick's (Baltimore, MD/
Calvert Hall) 22 points, five assists and two steals.
PhilaU flat out dominated CC, shooting 44.4% from field goal
range and forcing the Cougars into 21 turnovers.
The Rams sped out to a 10-0 lead in the first two minute of
play, spurred by freshman guard Jim Connolly's
(Harleysville, PA/ Souderton Area) trey at 18:09. Connolly
had nine points (all threes) on the day.
The Cougars would get within five (15-10) at 13:25 on a Malcolm
Austin three-ball, but PhilaU went on another run to control the
game's momentum. Austin led his squad with 17 points
and four rebounds.
PhilaU led 37-17 at the half.
It was much of the same in the second half, as PhilaU senior
forward Malcolm Ingram (Philadelphia, PA/ Solebury
Prep) score eight of his total 17 points in the second
stanza. He also pulled down seven boards for the Rams.
A jumper from PhilaU junior guard Ishmawiyl
McFadden (Philadelphia, PA/ Simon Gratz) with 33 seconds
to go gave the Rams their biggest lead of the day (29) and the
visitors completed the 71-44 conference victory.
The Rams take the hardwood next on Tuesday (2/9) vs. Chestnut
Hill College at the Gallagher Athletic Center at 8 p.m.
