PhilaU Men Advance to CACC 'Ship in 59-52 Triumph over Felician

Philadelphia, PA- The PhilaU men's basketball team (24-5, 14-2 CACC) advanced to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship game for the second year in a row with a 59-52 victory over the Felician College Falcons (15-15, 10-7 CACC) on Friday evening.  The win ties PhilaU head coach Herb Magee with legendary University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill coach Dean Smith for #3 on the NCAA all-time wins list with 879 victories. 

The Rams will face Bloomfield College at 7 p.m. tomorrow night (3/7) at Philadelphia University in the CACC Men's Championship.  A win tomorrow night would push Coach Magee past Smith's record of 879 wins. 

The semifinal win for the Rams was keyed by junior forward Mike Yocum's (Dresher, PA/ Episcopal Academy) game-high 15 points, seven rebounds and four blocks. 

PhilaU held FC to just 12 first half points, at one point keeping the Falcons scoreless for nearly eight minutes.  The Rams led 23-12 at the half, helped by junior guard Russell Frederick's (Baltimore, MD/ Calvert Hall) 10 first half points.  Frederick had 14 points and three steals on the night. 

The Rams jumped out to a 32-18 tally in the second stanza on a trey by senior guard Mike Dunn (Harrisburg, PA/ Central Dauphin) at 16:05.  Dunn had 13 points in the contest.

FC rallied to trail by just one at 34-33 on a layup by Sherrod Barrow at 9:52, but the Rams stayed on top as they finished regulation victorious 59-52. 

FC's Richard Fegins tied the game-high with 15 points for the Falcons.
