Box Score Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University
Rams (9-6, 2-1 CACC) suffered their second straight loss in a 54-47
heartbreaker to Stonehill College held at Holy Family's Campus
Center on Wednesday afternoon. PhilaU senior forward
Malcolm Ingram (Philadelphia, PA/ Solebury Prep)
led all scorers with 16 points and seven boards.
Dismal shooting percentages played a role in the PhilaU loss, as
Stonehill outshot the Rams from field goal range (60%-33%) and at
the charity stripe (73%-44%).
The Rams took the reins in the first half, charging out to a
10-4 lead early on, but SC caught up on a three-pointer from Brian
Harmor at 5:08 cut the PhilaU lead to one (18-17). PhilaU
senior forward Mike Yocum (Dresher, PA/ Episcopal
Academy) triggered a 6-0 Ram run with a jumper to give PhilaU a
seven-point go-ahead but a SC layup would cut the lead to three
(24-21) at halftime. Yocum had eight points, four boards and
three blocks in the game.
The second half read like a stock market chart over the
past decade. PhilaU's lead ballooned to 40-29 at 12:48 on two
Yocum free throws, but the game spiraled downward from there for
the Rams.
A SC 12-1 run gave the Skyhawks their first lead of the contest
42-41. SC's Randall Stallworth gave his squad a nine point
lead (54-45) on a fastbreak layup with a minute remaining to give
his squad enough breathing room to come from behind in the 54-47
win for the Skyhawks. Stallworth led the Skyhawks with 15
points.
PhilaU returns to action on Saturday (1/9/10) vs. Felican
College at 4 p.m., an alumni game and ceremony beforehand will
dedicate the Ram's new 'Bill Keane Locker Room'.
