Rams (6-3, 1-0 CACC) dropped a 58-53 non-conference contest at the
Gallagher Athletic Center to the West Chester University Golden
Rams (6-0) on Wednesday evening. PhilaU senior guard
Russell Frederick (Baltimore, MD/ Calvert Hall)
led all scorers with 20 points and added five rebounds on the
night.
The Rams struggled from the floor, shooting just 32% to WCU's
40% for the game.
WCU was led by Elie Daniel with 18 points and three rebounds.
PhilaU led by as many as five points early in the first stanza,
as Frederick hit one of his four treys to make it 11-6 at
14:06. However, WCU's Kehinde Roberts came back with a three
of his own at 7:33 to give the Golden Rams their first lead
20-19.
The Rams regained the advantage with less than three minutes to
go on a trey from sophomore guard Corey Francisco
(Woodbridge, NJ/ Monmouth Academy) and PhilaU held on for a 34-31
edge at the half.
WCU's Daniel opened the second half with a three-ball to tie it
at 34-34 and the Golden Rams did not relinquish the lead for the
remainder of the contest.
PhilaU got within three trailing 56-53 with 27 seconds left to
go, but 50% free-throw shooting for the game plagued the Rams all
night as the final read WCU 58, PhilaU 53.
Ram senior forward Malcolm Ingram
(Philadelphia, PA/ Solebury Prep) added a double-double with 11
points/12 rebounds on the night.
PhilaU returns to action on Tuesday (12/8) at Goldey-Beacom
College for an 8:00 p.m. tip-off.
