Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University
women's volleyball team (23-2, 11-1 CACC) picked up their
ninth-straight win 3-0 over city foe the University of the Sciences
(6-10, 6-5 CACC) on Thursday night.
Set scores were: 25-21, 25-22 and 25-22.
Senior outside-hitter Celena Rendon (San
Antonio, TX/ Tom C. Clark) led her squad with 12 kills, 16 digs and
two block assists. Freshman outside-hitter Danielle
Carney (Thousand Oaks, CA/ Thousand Oaks) had a solid
outing with six kills and 11 digs, and fellow rookie setter/libero
Mary Mancuso (Granby, MA/ Holyoke Catholic) added
18 digs and two service aces for good measure.
PhilaU junior setter Lauren Hoover (New
Baltimore, MI/Anchor Bay) had a team-high 20 set assists on the
night to go with five digs.
The Lady Rams continue their road trip with a Saturday (10/17)
contest at Georgian Court at 11:00 a.m., followed by a 1:00 p.m.
date with Dowling College.
