men's basketball (2-1) fell 65-60 to West Chester University (3-1)
on the road on Saturday afternoon. Junior guard/forward
Marcus Lemon (Alexandria, VA/ T.C. Williams) led
the Rams with 19 points, while junior forward Malcolm
Ingram (Philadelphia, PA/ Solebury Prep) had 17 points and
nine boards.
WCU posted their biggest lead of the game at the 16:36 mark in
the first half, but a layup from sophomore guard Russell
Frederick (Baltimore, MD/ Calvert Hall) tied the game at
38. Frederick finished the game with eight total points.
PhilaU trailed 31-26 at the half after leading in the first four
minutes of action.
The Rams shot 42% from field goal range while holding WCU to
just 31% from the floor.
In the second stanza the teams would exchange leads six times in
the final 10 minutes as Lemon sunk two free-throws with under a
minute remaining in regulation to give the Rams a 60-58 lead, but
WCU's Kehinde Roberts made a three to pull ahead and hold on for an
eventual 65-60 win.
The Rams continue the season on Monday, December 1st
at St. Thomas Aquinas at 7:30 p.m.
