Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

McKenna Blows Past 1,000 Kills, Rams Blow Past Post

The senior needed two kills to reach 1,000 and finished with 15 in three sets

WATERBURY, Conn. (Oct. 11, 2026) – Senior outside hitter Emily McKenna (Drexel Hill, Pa. / Sacred Heart Academy) of the Thomas Jefferson University women's volleyball team became just ninth player in Rams history to reach 1,000 career kills as the Rams defeated Post University on the road, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon.

One doesn't become a 1,000-kill player without significant contributions in multiple seasons, but the Rams' star outside hitter finds herself in the midst of a career year. McKenna is currently on pace to surpass her career-best 334 kills in 2024, as well as do so with a career-best hitting percentage that currently stands at .231. McKenna's efficiency improvements have shown up in the win column as well, as the Rams have won three out of every four games this season and have already surpassed last year's win total. They now need just one more victory to secure a winning season.

On Saturday, the visiting Rams played progressively better in each set, becoming more and more collectively efficient as the match played out. By the third set, they had completely turned on the jets, attacking at a 17:2 K/E ratio. McKenna led all Rams with 15 kills to just three errors, proving once again to be one of the CACC's preeminent offensive threats when she's on. Junior Liz Tanis (Abington, Pa. / Abington) was not only also heavily involved, but perfect on the day with 12 kills while committing nary an error. With 16 total attempts, Tanis finished with a .750 hitting percentage -- giving her the most efficient offensive outing of any Ram this season with at least 15 attempts.

In all, the Rams got after the Eagles at a near 5:1 clip. Sophomore libero Kate Hines (Newark, Del. / Delaware Military Academy) and junior outside hitter Alexa Mork (West Chester, Pa. / West Chester East / Towson University) carried the defense with a combined 30 digs as the latter has been more defensively involved as of late. Meanwhile, freshman setter Lyllah Sapp (Bakersfield, Calif. / Frontier) continued her consistent ways with 41 assists on Saturday.

Head Coach Eric Schaefer and the Rams (6-1 CACC) remain tied with Holy Family University atop the CACC South Division standings with plenty of season left to be played. They will next return home for the first of three games this week on Tuesday evening when they host Goldey-Beacom College in the annual White Out game at 6 p.m.
