Men's Soccer Drops Season Opener to West Chester
PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University men's soccer (0-1) began their 2025 campaign at Ravenhill Field where the Rams took a step back as they fell 4-2 to West Chester University (1-0) in non-conference Thursday action.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Jefferson was unable to generate much offense as they took seven total shots compared to the Golden Rams 21 attempts
- Peter TIchy put West Chester up at the 18th minute while Owen Slack turned it to a 2-0 advantage for the Golden Rams as he netted his shot in the 35th minute
- An injury brought Zayd Akhtar into the game. He immediately made an impact as he scored less than 30 seconds into his appearance, giving Jefferson a score and helping make the game 2-1 at the break
- Joseph Maxwell got on the board early for the Golden Rams in the second half, scoring at the 52nd minute mark. Dillon Barbieri got his shot in the net with less than 10 minutes left in the contest to make it 4-1
- A missed shot by Lesedi Hlabeli gave Mohamed Elhendawy the opportunity to score at the 85th minute, but the Rams could not muster a comeback as they fell 4-2
- Lucca Bellina made his collegiate debut with 4 saves on the day
