Women's Volleyball Leaves Tri-Match with Two Wins


PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University women's volleyball (5-3) hosted a tri-match between Southern Connecticut State University (5-3) and Millersville University (4-8). The Rams ended up winning in five sets over the Owls 3-2 and finished the Marauders in four sets for a successful weekend of competition. 

WHAT HAPPENED 
GAME ONE: W, 3-2 vs Southern Connecticut State 

  • The Rams held strong the first two sets, winning both 25-22. Southern Connecticut went to take set three 25-13 and set four 25-19 

  • Jefferson was down 8-6 before taking the next eight points and putting themselves in position to take the final point to win 15-10 for the series victory over the Owls

GAME TWO: W, 3-1 vs Millersville 

  • The first set win favor of the Marauders, winning 25-23 to edge out the Rams early on. Jefferson responded by taking set two and three with a 25-17 score 

  • The fourth set had the Rams ahead 23-20. Millersville put up four in a row to earn match point. The Rams didn't go away, taking four of the final five points with two coming from service errors to win the fourth set 27-25 and take the series 3-1 

  • McKenna put up 19 kills with Yalerie Acevedo delivering 11 kills in the series. Adams added 39 assists while joining Brianna Gritzman secured 13 digs. Hines led the squad with 17
