#11 Women's Soccer Rallies in Win Over Southern New Hampshire
WILMINGTON, DE. – After going down 2-1 in the second half with 20 minutes to go, the #11 nationally-ranked Thomas Jefferson University women's soccer team (2-1) scored two goals in four minutes to make a comeback and earn a 3-2 non-conference victory over Southern New Hampshire University (1-1) in Friday afternoon competition.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Rams got onto the board in 35 seconds as Avery Nogami hit a header shot off of a Mia Ferrara free kick to get Jefferson on the board early. The Penmen responded at the 3:09 mark to even it at 1-1
- The game would stay that way for the rest of the first half as Jefferson dominated in the shooting category, attempting 11 shots compared to Southern New Hampshire's two
- The second half went in favor of the Penmen, scoring a goal at the 61st minute to get ahead 2-1
- Trying to rally and get back in the game, Kyra Lesko took the ball down the left side and attempted a shot that went to the right. Isa Geoghan came right near the post and kicked it in for her first career goal, tying the game up at 2-2 at the 72nd minute mark
- Lesko would not be denied a goal in this game. She would receive a pass from Nikki Dedes, get passed the goalie, and make her shot in the net to make it a 3-2 game for Jefferson with less than 15 minutes of action to go
- The Rams defense held strong, allowing only one shot during that timeframe to leave Wilmington with a 3-2 victory
