Riddel Named CACC/CCA Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Thomas Jefferson University goalkeeper Liv Riddel adds another award to her numerous list of accolades as she was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) /Conference Commissioners Association (CCA) Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, announced by the conference office this morning. Nomination and voting for the conference's scholar-athlete award was managed by the league's directors of athletic communications.

Riddel becomes the 13th Jefferson athlete to be named CACC Scholar-Athlete in the school's history, as well as the third straight female to win the award for the Rams (Jess Molen earned the honors in 2022-23 and Sam Yencha was recognized with the distinction in 2023-24) and the first for the soccer program.

The senior goalkeeper paved her way into Jefferson's history books in both the team and individual department as she helped lead the Rams to a 19-1-3 record, a CACC championship victory, their first ever NCAA Tournament win, and advancing to the NCAA East Regional Finals.

The Jerrabomberra, Australia native started every single game for Jefferson, posting a .892 saving percentage on the season, a .433 GAA (goals-against-average), and 12 shutouts on the season, all of which were in the top-10 of Division II soccer. Riddel was named the CACC Goalkeeper of the year for the second consecutive season, an All-CACC First Team player, an CACC All-Tournament Team MVP winner, and a D2CCA All-America Third Team athlete.

Riddel wasn't only successful on the field, but in the classroom as well, earning a 3.89 GPA in Pre-Medical Studies. This led to her being named the PhillySIDA Academic Performer of the Year and earned herself a spot on the CSC (CollegeSportsCommunicatiors) Academic All-America First Team.

Riddel ended her career as a Ram with 220 career saves, 37 wins, and 22 shutouts with a .89 GAA, all of them landing her in the top-10 in program history. Her 18 wins this season were the most by a goalie for Jefferson while her 12 shutouts landed her at second. She was the CACC Goalkeeper of the Year twice, a 2x All-CACC First Team athlete, and made the CACC All-Academic Team three times over her four year tenure with the Rams.

She will now move on for consideration in the regional and national voting, administered by the CCA.
