Softball Holds onto Game Two Win to Split Against Top-Seeded Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - Thomas Jefferson University softball (13-14-24, 13-9) showed great pitching and earned the sole run of game two as the Rams took the split against top-seeded in conference play University of Bridgeport (30-12, 19-3) in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action this Tuesday. Jefferson fell to the Purple Knights 7-0 in game one. 

WHAT HAPPENED 
GAME TWO: W, 1-0 

• Jefferson had six hits in game two while holding Bridgeport to only three. Delaney Alix did not let up a run in her third straight game as she struck out six Purple Knight batters 

• The Rams got the sole run on the day off of a Sabrina Pastino single to left field 

• Bridgeport got as close as second base in the last two innings, with a double setting up the tying run that was halted by a strike out to earn Jefferson their upset over the No.1 seed heading into the CACC Tournament

• The Purple Knights scored a two-run single up the middle to begin game one. Four more runs were scored in the second and one more in the sixth inning 

• The Rams had one hit in the game with most innings be three batters at the plate 

• Liv Stevens took the loss, pitching two innings and allowing eight hits with six runs. Devin Brandley pitched the next four, allowing only two hits and one run while striking out four batters

UP NEXT 
Jefferson will now await their destiny as they have clinched a berth in the CACC Tournament and will now see whether they will be at Softball Field for the CACC First Round or be on the road as the game will be played on Saturday, April 26 at 12 p.m.
