Perfect Game in First Match Propels Softball to Sweep Bloomfield
BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – Thomas Jefferson University softball (13-23, 12-8) had their first perfect game since 2010 as the Rams earned the sweep against Bloomfield College (0-35, 0-20) in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on Monday afternoon.
WHAT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: W, 5-0
- The first two innings saw only four batters at most for either team with the score remaining scoreless. Delaney Alix never faced more than three batters on the day, with four of her career-high 11 strikeouts coming in those two innings
- Bridget Shields got Jefferson on the board as she hit a one-run double to right field. She made it home as Lily Hutt had single to the right side as the Rams were ahead 2-0
- After more scoreless innings and six strikeouts from Alix on the mound, the Rams had another score as Madeline Holmes grounded out brought Annie Eliason to homeplate, making it 3-0 after six innings
- Shields tacked another score with a homerun to begin the top of the seventh. Maddie Holmes secured another RBI as she hit a sacrifice flyout to right field to make it 5-0
- A flyout to center field, a grounded out to the shortstop, and a pop up to second base secured Alix's perfect game, making it the first for the Rams since April 24, 2010 with this being the first seven inning perfect game. This is also Jefferson's first no-hitter in seven innings since March 12, 2017

- Bloomfield took advantage of an error by the Rams to score and get ahead 1-0 after the first inning
- Jefferson got as close as third base through the first four innings, but trailed the Bears 1-0 heading into the fifth
- The Rams began to get their attack going, tying the game with a Remy Smith one-run single through the left side. Hutt's sacrifice flyout to right field gave the Rams the lead, with Sydnie Lanasa hitting a two-run double down the right line to make it 4-1 heading to the bottom of the inning
- Devin Brandley held the Bears out of the fifth with two strikeouts, giving Jefferson more opportunities to score as Madeline Holmes hit a homerun to begin the scoring barrage in the sixth
- A fielder's choice got Tori Lipka to homeplate, Smith got two runners to home from a double to center field, a grounded out by Hutt added one run, and an error by the center fielder made it 10-1 after six innings
- With a runner on second and third, a grounded out secured the Rams 10-1 win over the Bears in game two
- Brandley pitched five innings, allowing only one hit and a run, which was not earned, while striking out four batters. Liv Stevens came in for relief in the last inning, having only two walks

Delaney Alix pitched all seven innings for the Rams, not allowing a hit, run, or walk as she had a perfect game. This is the first perfect game for Jefferson since April 24, 2010 and first that went seven innings. This is also the first no-hitter in seven innings since March 12, 2017
