Softball Earns First Win on Season; Splits at Space Coast Spring Games
 
VIERA, Fla. – Thomas Jefferson University softball (1-5) began their time down in Florida for the Space Coast Spring Games. Jefferson got their first win on the season in a 2-1 victory against Cedarville University (4-15). The Rams suffered a setback to Walsh University (3-7) 11-2 in Friday evening competition.
 
WHAT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: W, 2-1
  • Jefferson got on the board first as Bridget Shields single up the middle brought the Ram runner home for an early 1-0 lead
  • Cedarville responded in the fourth with a single to left field as they evened the score up
  • The Rams got their run back in the fourth as a double by Lily Hutt
  • The Yellow Jackets got as close as second, but were unable to capitalize as Jefferson earned their first win of the season
  • Delaney Alix secured her first collegiate win as she pitched all 7.0 innings, allowing four hits, one earned run, and striking out five batters

GAME TWO: L, 11-2
  • The Cavaliers got their runs right out of the gate as a two-run single to left field gave Walsh the early lead
  • After two innings going scoreless by both squads, Walsh added three more on the scoreboard by way of a single to left field and a two-run double to the same side
  • Jefferson got on the board as Madeline Holmes double to center field brought Annie Eliason and Sydnie Lanasa to Homeplate and made the game 5-2
  • The Cavaliers put a run in the sixth and eventually added five more in the seventh to conclude the night with a 11-2 win
  • Devin Brandley started for the Rams, pitching 4.0 innings to have seven hits, three earned runs, and three strikeouts on the night. Lily Hutt finished the final three innings pitching for the Rams
