Murphy's Career-High Gets Women's Basketball to Next Round with Win over Felician
PHILADELPHIA – After being named CACC Player of the Year,
Cassie Murphy scored a career-high 32 points on the night. Her teammates followed suit in pushing the pace and maintaining their lead throughout the game as Thomas Jefferson University women's basketball (23-6) get past Felician University (11-18) 75-57 as they advance in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament on Tuesday evening action.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Jefferson went ahead early on as they got out to a 19-8 spree in the first 6:15 of the game, putting the Rams up 25-13 after the first. Emily Spratt added a layup while Sam Yencha and Tori Nigro earned free throw points. Murphy helped lead the charge in the first quarter, scoring 14 of her 32 points in the first 10 minutes
- The Golden Falcons began to pick up momentum in the second, outscoring the Rams 21-17. Jefferson still went into the break ahead 42-34. Emma Kuczynski put up seven points in the second, Murphy added two baskets, and Carolyn Sipprell scored a basket with Nigro in the second
- The Rams put up 19 points in the second over Felician's 14. Murphy dropped eight in the third, Kuczynski and Spratt had four apiece, and Nigro added a basket as well
- Rams marched on the rest of the way, adding 14 points to secure their victory. Spratt put six points with Murphy and Gabby Recinto delivering four respectively
- This is the 14th straight win for Jefferson as they haven't lost a game since January 16

Jefferson now advances to the CACC Semifinals for the sixth straight season (2020-21 did not participate due to COVID-19) as they stay in the Gallagher Center to host the CACC Tournament. The Rams will go and take on #2 North Seed Caldwell University on Saturday, March 8 at 2 p.m.
